5 days!

Items accomplished today:

1. Mailed our moving announcements

2. Filled out our change of address form (incidentally, the resident that will be moving into our apartment after we leave is already having her mail sent here which I can't say I enjoy. So Donna S. if you are reading this, I would appreciate it if you would show a little compassion for a girl who is having a hard time saying goodbye to this place.)

3. Bought primer for tomorrows big painting event. Time to turn those walls ugly again.

4. Decided that we had accomplished enough for the day and went to see the movie Soul Surfer - it was good but I would recommend waiting until it's at Redbox.

5. Reunited Wilson with a father and 4 siblings that he hadn't seen in 17 years.

That last one is kind of a biggie so I will add a few details. Wilson hasn't seen or heard from his dad or his siblings on his dad's side of the family since he was around 9 years old; until a little while ago when he and his brothers and sister got connected on facebook. They decided that before we left for Texas that they should all get together again. I was most excited because of the news that his dad had a few photo albums with baby pictures of Wilson (all but a handful of Wilson's childhood pictures were lost over the years).

It was an unbelievably fun evening of getting to know his dad and getting to be together as a family. They took us to a fantastic Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant and then back to his dad's house for some green tea ice cream.

It was amazing to see that even though Wilson grew up away from his father that they would have so many personality traits in common like valuing hard work, serving others and dedication to family.

It's amazing to me what one night can do as far as changing perspective. This morning when I thought of family that we had in Arizona, the list was much shorter and most of the people on it weren't actually related to Wilson or me. But now, when it comes time for us to have children, there will be several more reasons for us to bring them back to Phoenix and more people that I will want them to know as being part of their family.
